  What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?

  i remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.

  he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.

  interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

  Time Gained by Leaving JW World

  does anyone else wonder at the amount of time a person immediately gains when they leave the jws?.

  just today, a sunday, i would have woken up at 7, frantically taken a highlighter pen to my wt to make it look like i had made a deep study of it.

  packed my stuff for meeting and ministry, cycled to the kh, joined the pre meeting ministry arrangement, rushed back for the meeting, sat through a sometimes interesting public talk, sometimes mind-numbingly dull one, strained through a wt study to which i usually had more questions than answers.

  Time to read what you want. Time to do projects for your benefit. Time to relax when you see the need. Time to go to a lecture anytime and day of the week. No more time wasted doing all the busy work of the Borg and worrying what time it is so you will not be late.

  Morpheus you are right no more time wasted being a elder. If the wt. paid the elders for all the work we did for them I figured at 20 hours a week times let's say $20 per hour that equals $400 times 52 weeks equals $20,800.00 per year. For me I served as a elder for 25 years and that equals $520,000 for my service to the Borg. I feel that is a conservative estimate. Boy that makes me sick just to thinking about it.   Does the Watchtower have an official position on Alcoholics Anonymous?

  i ask because i'm working in a 28 day residential addiction treatment center and one of my co-workers is studying with the jw's.

  he does not know i'm an xjw.

  i suspect that at some point they're going to tell him he can't go to aa meetings anymore.

  Back around 2000 there was sister in our Hall who was fighting alcoholism. She was before a committee which I was one of the elders and she ended up getting DF for adultery which her alcoholism led to. Of course the counsel she got from the other older elders was read your Bible and pray to God and don't miss meetings. I in turn told her she might want to look into AA meetings. The other two elders thought I was nuts. Well as it turn out over a year later I ran in to this sister at a assembly. She ran up to me and told me she was reinstated then she gave me a big hug and thank me for turning her towards AA. At that point she was 1year alcohol free. It was a small thing for me but I think it was the first crack in my jw box that finally lead to my leaving. After that anyone I knew that had problems with alcoholism I recommended AA.   Looking at the before pictures it looks like he lived pretty good compared to most americans of that time period. It so nice to see old buildings beginning renovated instead of being torn down. Still Totally ADD

  What are you most passionate about?

  i had an interview today and was asked a question o have gotten in the past: what are you most passionate about?

  it was a struggle to come up with an answer on this one.

  as a jw, the things i was passionate about were chosen for me.

  Good question. For me it is sustainable gardening using permaculture techniques. Teaching and demonstrating in our local area how important it is to have clean chemical free food for us to comsume and how our present food system is causing many health problems in our society. I had this passion when I was in the Borg but unable to devote much time to it. Now I am able to study and work on this subject as much as I want to. I hope in the very near future I will be able to post some pictures on what we are doing. Still Totally ADD

  Disfellowshipped/disassociated – How did your parents handle it?

  to those who were disfellowshipped/disassociated – how did your still-in parents handle it?.

  i don’t want to fade, so i am thinking about disassociating soon – i don’t care if i’m playing by the org’s rules, i just want out.. however, i am concerned about how my parents will react.

  i don’t want them to become super depressed or whatever due to me leaving the org.. i don’t want them to be hurt by my decision to leave the org, but i feel like there is no way of avoiding this..

  As parents our son was DF at the age of 18. He really thought we was going to kick him out of the house. We didn't and reasured him we would never do that because we love him. During that time he was out we paid for his training in a local trade school so he would have a good job to support himself. This is a job he is doing to this day. When the CO came in town for his visit and heard what we did he tried to have me removed as a elder. It did not happen although looking back I wish it did. At any rate when we left the Borg our son now in his thritys and married stop having anything to do with us. So this is kind of reverse shunning on your topic. He just turned 41 last Friday I hope he is doing well. Still Totally ADD

  What I noticed about the Awake Mag left at my doormat

  first, this is the second invite i received and it came with an awake magazine.

  i'm pretty sure it is the crazy anointed witness that i knew, that is dropping it off.. i decided to look at it to see what is the wt is up to.

  how different the content is from long ago.. on the back page, there is a header in a red box that says "the way of happiness learn more.
